Outward Mindset

What is Outward Mindset?

At CBEL, we embrace an Outward Mindset, the belief that lasting change happens when we see and treat others as people with their own needs, challenges, and goals—not as obstacles or objects. This mindset guides how we interact with families, neighbors, partners, and colleagues, helping us move from blame and frustration toward collaboration, understanding, and positive impact.

All staff and Neighborhood Family Council members receive Outward Mindset training, equipping them to:

  • Build stronger relationships by understanding and respecting others’ perspectives.

  • Enhance collaboration within neighborhoods, schools, and community systems.

  • Create solutions together and overcome conflict in a way that support families, children, and the community.

By cultivating an Outward Mindset across our staff and NFC members, CBEL strengthens the connections and partnerships that make neighborhoods safer, children more supported, and families more resilient.
